 A Short Biography of Hatta

                Dr. (HC) Drs. H. Mohammad Hatta was born with the name Mohammad Athar, nicknamed Bung Hatta. Born in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, August 12, 1902. He is a freedom fighter of the Republic of Indonesia that is often juxtaposed with Sukarno. Not only the freedom fighters, Bung Hatta also known as organizational, political party activist, statesman, proclaimer, a pioneer of the cooperative, and the first vice-president of Indonesia.

                Gait Hatta in politics began as treasurer Jong Sumatranen Bond Padang. 1921 Hatta settled in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and joined the association Indische Vereeniging which later became the Association of Indonesia (PI). When in 1925 was elected chairman of the PI, Hatta began to introduce the name of Indonesia. Since then the name of Indonesia is known among international organizations.

                In 1932, Hatta returned to Indonesia. When in 1933 exiled in Flores Soekarno, Hatta reacted strongly. He wrote about the exile Sukarno in various media. As a result, the Dutch arrested Hatta, and exiled to Digul, Papua. In 1942 the Dutch colonial government surrendered to the Japanese. On August 16, 1945, the Preparatory Committee for Indonesian Independence (PPKI) formulated the text of the proclamation will be read the next day with the signature of Sukarno and Hatta. On August 17, 1945, Indonesia proclaimed independence. The next day, August 18, 1945 Sukarno and Hatta was appointed as President and Hatta as Vice President.

                In an effort to maintain independence, the Indonesian government moved to Yogyakarta. On December 27, 1949, Queen Juliana give full recognition of Indonesian sovereignty. After the absolute independence, Hatta remained active giving lectures in various educational institutions, and guide the cooperative movement. Date July 12, 1951, Hatta making a speech on the anniversary of the Cooperative. and five days later Mr. Hatta was appointed Indonesia Cooperative.

                Rachim Rahmi Hatta marry on November 18, 1945. Blessed with three daughters. On March 14, 1980, Hatta Jakarta died in hospital at the age of 77 years. Buried in TPU Land coachman, Jakarta. Hatta get grace marks the highest honor "Star of the Republic of Indonesia Class I" that the President had. The government has officially set the title Hero of the Proclaimers on 23 Oktober1986 and National Hero on November 7, 2012.
