A short Biography Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX
Bendoro Raden Mas Dorojatun born on April 12, 1912. He was the son Sri
Sultan Hamengku Buwono VIII. Dorojatun
he went through childhood in the neighborhood (deposited) a Dutch family since
the age of 4 years, it is done HB VIII tebaik that their child will get an
education. During
his childhood, he went to kindergarten care Frobel School Miss Willer in
Bintaran Kidul. After
that in 1925 he entered the Eerste Europese Lagere School. Then
in 1931 he went on to Hogere Burger School in Semarang, then up again to HBS
Bandung until graduation. Dorojatun
education continued with a lecture to the Netherlands in Leiden
Rijkuniversiteit majored Indologie - the science of Indonesia. Education
by the Dutch never made Dorojatun loses original identity as a Java. Dorojatun
crowned as the sultan of Yogyakarta on March 18, 1940 with the title of the Sri
Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX.
When the proclamation echoed, HB IX directly states joining the Republic of
Indonesia. It

Indonesian government continues to survive. HB

During the years 1945-1973 HB IX always got important positions in
government from the post of military governor to the post of minister. Then
he became the number two in Indonesia after the elected Vice President in the
period 1973-1978. After
his term runs out, people still want him to continue to be active in the
government, but due to health reasons, HB IX refused to be vice president
renominated.
In the latter half of 1988, due to declining health mengharukannya HB IX
went to George Washington University Medical Centre, USA. However,
because penyakinta was too severe, he breathed his last on October 2, 1988.
Later his body was brought home and buried at the cemetery of the kings of
Mataram in Imogiri, Bantul, Yogyakarta. As
a tribute to the role and services terhadapa country, Indonesian government
granted the title of national hero through Presidential Decree No. 053 / TK / 1990 dated July 30,
1990.
